Orthotic Fabrication Technician

The TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre in Granger, Indiana is seeking an organized, experienced, and laser-focused Orthotic Fabrication Technician to join our team.

This individual works hand-in-hand with the other members of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre team to provide a broad range of technical laboratory design, orthotic engineering, and inventory support to the practice. This person is crucial to the fluidity and flow of patient care and ensures the quality and integrity of custom design work as outlined by our trusted clinicians. This key member of the team exudes TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre’s Core Values and is dedicated to the long-term success of the treatment we provide our patients.

We are seeking an outstanding individual to provide knowledge and expertise on the fabrication of dental orthotic devices. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with excellent technical skills and experience in medical/dental device fabrication. Organizational skills and self-motivation are a must.

As Orthotic Fabrication Technician, your duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Organizing, prioritizing, and anticipating needs or expectations related to fabricating orthotic devices
  • Checking cases in and out and recording any case notes in accordance to the order or design requirements
  • Collaborating with external labs, when indicated, regarding internally fabricated products
  • Developing and managing a fabrication schedule and keeping staff and doctor informed of scheduling problems, issues, or concerns
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace in accordance to OSHA regulation and practice standards
  • Proficiently using a computer, secure emails, fax, scanner, and courier delivery services to send information or documents
  • Providing fulfillment services and managing outgoing shipments as needed
  • Tracking incoming orders, cases, status of completion, and cases that have passed quality inspections to be delivered
  • Formulating and overseeing design of orthoses from beginning to end including: selecting materials, making case measurements, and designing model modifications and layouts
  • Researching new and current technology and keeping up-to-date documentation in the fields of medical device manufacturing, 3D printing, and orthotics
  • Proficiently using equipment, machinery, tools, and techniques in a way that reduces waste and maximizes materials
  • Reading and understanding orders, preparing, designing, finishing, and polishing custom orthotics to specifications
  • Consulting with clinicians, when necessary, on case planning and procedures
  • Maintaining knowledge of materials, required inventory, and accurately selecting correct materials and specifications
  • Recording inventory and ordering supplies to ensure availability
  • Reviewing packing slips, invoices, and orders for accuracy providing documentation and data entry for budgetary purposes or payment
  • Understanding the product requirements and utilizing 3D printer to produce printed appliance that meets, or exceeds, quality standards according to the order specs and requirements
  • Completing production and inspection to deliver a completed product according to the manufacturing schedule and estimated due date
  • Occasionally making adjustments chair-side, checking the fit of the device, and making necessary modifications as needed
  • Running reports as requested by the team
